Yin Yoga

What is Yin Yoga?

Yin Yoga is a meditative, passive and slow practice allowing for deep introspection and deep release.

Poses are generally floor based and held anywhere from 1 minute to 5 minutes or longer with the assistance of props to make sure the body can feel supported to unfold without force.

While poses are held and attention is on the sensations occurring and your breath, Yin allows participants to drop into a very self aware and meditative state.

Yin is informed by Traditional Chinese Medicine, poses are designed to stimulate Meridian lines of the human body to alleviate a myriad of potential issues depending on the season and provide support to nourish the body not just in the physical but on all levels - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual.

By stimulating certain points and Meridian lines just as in Acupuncture practice, Yin can help restore the healthy flow of Qi or Lifeforce in the body.

The slow nature of Yin makes it the perfect practice for all, especially beginners and is highly popular for increasing flexibility in the body.

Participants are invited to breathe into positions where the body feels tension and the long holds allow time and space for the connective tissue and fascia to gently unwind without any push.

Yin is overall relaxing, grounding and can facilitate emotional releases.

A potent way to de-stress and unwind.
